Advent with the Jesus Storybook Bible

We give our children the Jesus Storybook Bible when they enter Kindergarten.  Written by Sally Lloyd-Jones and beautifully illustrated by Jago, we love this bible because "at the center of the Story is a baby, the child upon whom everything will depend. Every story whispers his name. From Noah to Moses to the great King David---every story points to him. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle---the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together. From the Old Testament through the New Testament, as the Story unfolds, children will pick up the clues and piece together the puzzle. A Bible like no other, The Jesus Storybook Bible invites children to join in the greatest of all adventures, to discover for themselves that Jesus is at the center of God's great story of salvation---and at the center of their Story too."

Another unique feature of this bible is that there are 24 stories from the beginning of the book through the birth of Jesus, perfect for Advent preparation!! We encourage our families (anyone, really) to use this as an Advent devotional.  You can find the calendar by following this link.

Don't have the book? Don't worry!  Every day of Advent we will post a video version of the day's story here on the blog.

This Sunday, November 16 our Young Musicians (grades 3-5) will open our 11 a.m. worship service with "Worship Christ the Mighty King."  Then all of our Encounter Kids will join them in leading the congregation in "God Loved the World," one of the great worship songs from Encounter Kids.  Also remember to mark your calendars for the presentation of Light of the World by our Music Makers (grades 1&2) combined with our Young Musicians on Sunday, December 7 at 4:30 p.m. The Melody Makers Preschool Choir will sing a couple of songs to open up the program and our Children's Handbell Choir will provide a prelude for the service.  I look forward to seeing everyone this Wednesday night at 6 p.m. sharp.
